About

Hi, I’m Spence - founder of Ruebel.

I’m an observer, thinker, pilot, husband, father, and entrepreneur (at least, that’s the sequential order of when I took-on each role).

One of my earliest memories is of being on a flight to the UK when I was four, and I’ve been infatuated with flying ever since. Ruebel is - in part - a result of my observations and experiences gained from travel and 24+ years of flying.

I knew there had to be a way to make packing and unpacking easier, and a better way to keep everything organized during my frequent overnight stops. So, while balancing my military flying career and a growing family, I brought together a team of designers and product specialists to help solve ease the process.

Following numerous rounds of prototyping and testing, our innovative carry-on - The Pilot - was born.

Now retired from the Air Force, I’m fortunate to be able to continue my professional pilot career while helping the Ruebel community save time and effort throughout their journey. I strive to design and produce high-quality products to make your busy and demanding life a little easier. I do this by looking for innovative solutions to common travel problems, and share new and time-tested tips for busy travellers.

I’m also concerned about the planet.

Ruebel is derived from the names of my children. While the company is focused on producing goods that will make the lives of our customers easier, I acknowledge that future generations will have to deal with the consequences of todays travel and consumer products. It’s for this reason that sustainability is a primary factor in our decision making. We endeavour to make our products long lasting, and out of organic, renewable, recyclable, and biodegradable materials.

We are also learning, and want to continuously improve.

If you have a recommendation - a way for us to improve quality or sustainability - please let us know. We are open to new ideas and resources, and are willing to try pretty much anything that will make the experience of our customers better or reduce our impact on the planet.

Improvement isn’t a destination, it’s an ongoing process and mindset we’re committed to. One we hope will benefit both you and the planet. Together, we can make todays journey a little easier, without harming tomorrow.

Travel Thoughtfully,

Spencer
